CA Foundation Course which is the initial entry point for this profession, wherein a student is eligible for enrolment only with his Class XII Admit card or immediately after the successful completion of his Class XII. The exam for the Foundation Course is held twice in an year, i.e. during May and November and the result is tentatively declared within three to four weeks post examination. It's a prestigious national level exam, per se and students not only from commerce but also from science and humanities background are eligible for sitting in the CA Foundation Exam, with the only requirement being that a student must have a 10+2, i.e. a Senior Secondary qualification certificate with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks from any national or state recognized Board of Secondary Education in India or a five passes at GCE ‘O’ level/GCSE/IGCSE with A/B/C Grades and two passes at the GCE advanced level examination of the approved British Examining Bodies, that must also be recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) so to be at par with the +2 stage qualification of an Indian schooling body and also along with prior registration with the Board of Studies (BOS) i.e. to be mandatorily completed by December 31 for appearing in the May session or alternatively by June 30 for the November session. This registration is however valid only for three years i.e. for a maximum number of six attempts in the CA Foundation exam post which a candidates will again have to revalidate his registration with the BOS by depositing Rs.300/- as his revalidation fees.
